Furniture shipping from China, priced on the volume you actually load.

Flat-pack, upholstered, and oversized furniture out of Foshan, Dongguan, and Ningbo. As a furniture freight forwarder in China we audit the real carton volume, build the container fill plan, and confirm the receiving address can unload it — before the rate is quoted.

Cargo profile

Furniture is a volume business, until one piece will not fit.

Cost per unit is decided by how well the container fills — and by whether the awkward piece was planned for or discovered at loading.

Flat-pack

Dense, stackable cartons where container fill rate, not freight rate, decides the landed cost per unit.

High fillFCL

Upholstered & soft goods

Compression and moisture are the risk here, not weight. Dunnage and stack limits are specified at intake.

MoistureProtection

Oversized & fixed pieces

Sofas, wardrobes, and solid tables that dictate the loading order and occasionally the container type.

Loading orderOOG check

Multi-supplier orders

Lecong and Shunde orders combined into one booking with carton counts reconciled against the purchase order.

Where furniture shipments lose money

Three costs that appear after the rate is agreed.

Volume audit

Supplier CBM that does not match reality

Stated volume and loaded volume routinely differ. We measure cartons at the warehouse, so you are not paying for a container booked against an optimistic number.

Fill rate

A container that fills at 78%

Mixed furniture orders waste space unless the loading order is planned. The load sheet is built before the booking, not improvised at the dock.

Receiving

No way to unload at the far end

A 40′ HC arriving at an address with no dock and no forklift becomes a redelivery charge. Unloading capability is confirmed while the cargo is still in China.

Loading model

The load sheet comes before the booking.

Furniture freight forwarding from China is mostly a packing problem wearing a shipping label. These four checkpoints produce the documents the quote is built on.

How it works

From factory measurement to unloaded delivery.

01 — Measure

Audit the real volume

Cartons are measured and counted at the warehouse. The verified CBM, not the supplier's estimate, drives the FCL versus LCL comparison.

02 — Consolidate

Combine the suppliers

Orders from Lecong, Shunde, Dongguan, or Ningbo are received, reconciled against the purchase order, and staged in loading sequence.

03 — Load

Build the container

The load sheet sets stacking order, protection, and weight distribution so the awkward pieces are planned rather than wedged in last.

04 — Deliver

Clear & unload

Customs, final-mile trucking, and the receiving window are coordinated against whatever equipment the destination actually has.

FAQ

Furniture shipping FAQ

Volume, container fit, protection, and the unloading question importers forget.

Should furniture ship FCL or LCL from China?

Around 12–15 CBM is a useful starting point for the comparison, but furniture skews the maths. Bulky, light cargo hits the volume limit long before the weight limit, and LCL handling adds compression and moisture risk that flat-pack tolerates better than upholstery. We price both against your audited CBM and show where the break-even actually sits for your order.

How do you handle furniture that will not fit a standard container?

Oversized or fixed pieces are assessed against 40′ high-cube, open-top, and flat-rack options before a booking type is chosen. In most furniture orders the answer is a smarter loading order rather than a special container — but where it genuinely will not fit, we quote the out-of-gauge route instead of discovering the problem at the dock.

Which furniture manufacturing areas do you collect from?

Foshan — including the Lecong furniture market and Shunde — plus Dongguan and the Ningbo cluster. Multiple factory pickups across those areas are routinely combined into one consolidated container.

How is upholstered furniture protected on a long ocean leg?

Moisture is the main enemy on a 30-plus day sailing. The packing spec covers film wrapping, corner protection, desiccant where humidity warrants it, and a stack limit so lower cartons are not carrying more than they were designed to. The spec is agreed before loading and photographed at the warehouse.

Can you deliver furniture to a residential address or a retail DC?

Both, once we know what equipment is available at the receiving end. A distribution centre with a dock is straightforward. A residential or small-retail address usually needs a tail-lift truck and sometimes a smaller vehicle, which we price into the plan rather than leaving as a surprise redelivery charge.
